Kilkenny Castle, built in the twelfth century and home to the Butler dynasty for over five hundred years. The Kilkenny Design Workshops, established in 1965 in the castle stables directly across the courtyard, are the birthplace of modern Irish craft and design. And Butler House & Rose Gardens are a former dower house of the Earls of Ormond.
