Our team at Pembroke Kilkenny Hotel takes breakfast seriously. After all, it’s the most important meal of the day! We don’t offer a soggy breakfast buffet that sits untouched for hours. We pride ourselves on the quality and freshness of our breakfast, getting your day off to a great start. We use only the most reputable and certified suppliers to bring you the finest breakfast in Ireland, whether you want a filling Full Irish or a healthy continental. We’re delighted to be announced as the winners of the ‘Ireland’s Best Hotel Breakfast’ Award, presented by renowned food critic Georgina Campbell
Georgina Campbell Irish Food & Hospitality Awards
Celebrating 24 years this year, the Georgina Campbell Awards recognise and honour Ireland’s high standards in food and hospitality with particular focus this year, on those who have maintained standards across the board in the face of post-pandemic energy and staffing crises, among many other challenges. A trend of rising prices and falling standards is typical during times of crisis but the determination and perseverance of Irish properties has shone through. This year, following numerous visits throughout the year, the nationwide independent assessment team nominated several businesses that they felt exceeded expectations and preserved their high standards despite the challenges. The awards are highly coveted in the Irish hospitality scene and hold properties to an increasingly high standard once awarded.
Breakfast at Pembroke Kilkenny Hotel
We have a fantastic reputation locally for our high quality, top-class breakfast offering, something any Kilkenny locals or hotel residents who have tried it will vouch for. Breakfast is an integral part of the Pembroke’s excellent overall food offering and many guests look forward to it. We cook your breakfast to order, ensuring that your meal is as fresh and delicious as possible. Following the pandemic closures – when our buffet breakfast became a thing of the past – we realised our guests much preferred this new menu and did not want to go back to a buffet. We have a selection of hot and cold plates catering to all appetites and food preferences. A popular choice on our cold food menu is the meat and cheese plate and the grilled breakfast most often wins out on our hot food menu. We offer a range of homemade options too such as our granola, waffles, our delicious ‘beans on toast’ and the more unusual smoked trout kedgeree. The suppliers of all of the ingredients used in our breakfast dishes are clearly marked, as are the allergens, so diners can make informed decisions. Served on beautiful Nicholas Mosse Pottery from Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny, everything adds up to the perfect start to the day.
