A memorable ‘Savour Kilkenny’ dining occasion showcasing the very best of local and sustainable ingredients takes place at Statham’s Restaurant Saturday, October 29th 2022.
This ‘farm-to-fork’ event will showcase local ‘Taste Kilkenny’ producers through a special menu crafted by Statham’s Executive Chef Ken Harker and his team, in what promises to be an exquisite dining experience.
Gaining a reputation in Ireland for its honest approach to dining, and recently awarded two Irish Restaurant Awards at the Leinster Regional Finals for Best Casual Dining and Best Emerging Irish Cuisine, Statham’s Bar & Restaurant seek out quality ingredients from Kilkenny food producers, whom they enjoy a trusted relationship with and are proud to support.
Ken Harker Head Chef at Statham’s commented,
“Incorporating local ingredients into the menu at Statham’s allows us to simply but elegantly show off the incredible standard of products available in Ireland by Irish suppliers. In the kitchen, we use the best local and Irish produce we can source, and ensure we cook them at their prime. This allows us to treat the ingredients with respect. We’re all looking forward to this Savour event, letting our ingredients be the stars of the show, and learning more about slow food and sustainability on the night”
Ken will be joined by a special guest – chef, author and TV presenter Rory O’Connell of Ballymaloe Cookery School. Rory has delivered first-class culinary education to students worldwide since 1983 and has a number of cookbooks as well as the television series ‘How to Cook Well’ on RTÉ television.
Ballymaloe is a multi-award-winning cookery school with a long-standing tradition of excellence and sustainability, and a philosophy of Slow Food. Rory will discuss this philosophy and his approach to food while introducing guests to each course on the menu, highlighting local ingredients from Kilkenny’s food producers on behalf of Taste Kilkenny.
Some of the local suppliers diners can expect to see featured and sample on the special event menu are Ging Family Farm at Ballykeefe Distillery, Riversfield Organic Farm, Goatsbridge Trout, High Bank Orchard, Ballymakenny Potatoes, Mooncoin Beetroot and Dizzy Goats Farm amongst others.
To truly celebrate Irish creativity, this event is presented in collaboration with MADE in Kilkenny – a multidisciplinary collective producing bespoke craft. Enjoy your meal with tableware and dining accessories hand-crafted in County Kilkenny.
On arrival, diners will be greeted with a Ballykeefe Distillery drinks reception before sitting down to a four-course tasting meal complemented by two glasses of wine.
